Hence EDP, incorporated in 1984, has provided pre-press software solutions to clients engaged in the printing of a large variety of printed products. Originally a proprietorship conducting business as Douglas W. Stout & Associates, Hence EDP has been continuously providing software solutions for printing companies of volume products since 1980, providing both software and support to its extensive list of clients. Included in that list are Whit-Co Checks, CheckWorks, NEBS/McBee Systems and Safeguard Business Systems. There are also many Commercial and Social printers of which New England Arts, Encore Studios, Mission Announcements, Utley Brothers, BCT, Saunders Raised Printing (Sydney, Australia), Crane & Company (Excelsior Process & Engraving), and Checkerboard Ltd., are just a few examples. Although Hence EDP specializes in software development for printing applications, as is demonstrated by its ACT2˛ for Checks, Forms, Commercial and Social Printers; it has also been called upon to provide custom software solutions for numerous organizations. Included among these organizations are Monotype Incorporated, Linotype, John H. Harland Company, and Bell & Howell. It is because of these past accomplishments, and the knowledge gained in providing software solutions and assistance to an enormous variety of clients requiring integration of typesetting systems consisting of computer equipment and software, that Hence EDP is uniquely qualified to provide these custom services. Our most recent pre-press production system, ACT2˛, is a Windows application incorporating the capabilities from our previous versions of ACT1 and ACT2 and adds to that many new and powerful features.
